About e-learning

It's thursday, 17.24, and I'm still working at my office. I haven't forget my first blog :) and that's why I want to write something new.

At friday we finished with our course Learning and teaching with technology. But that's only first part. In the next few months we are going to have once a month meeting at the lab with all the participants, Zoran Zdravev and our great teacher Bill Warrick who is going to be with us online with skype. And after that in june we will work and learn two more weeks with Bill Warrick.

During the next semestar I'm going to use everything what I have learned from this course in my teaching. The beginning of the next semestar is after 10 days and I will share with the world my expereince with e-learning. I hope that it will be successful semestar.

Learning and Teaching with Technology

During this two weeks I’m attending course named Learning and teaching with technology with Mr.Bill Warrick. I would like to share with all world my opinion about e-learning.

Electronic or traditional learning?

Before two weeks I thought that traditional learning is more effective than electronic education. But I was thinking like that because I didn’t know much about e-learning.

Here is what I learned and what I think now:

Online education is a type of technology supported education/learning where the medium of instruction is computer technology. This kind of education promote active and independent learning and reduce class seat time.

Here are some of the benefits of using e-learning:
- Give an equal opportunity for each student to participate in all activities.
- Changed classroom environment; from too much "teacher talk" to let student enjoy "reflective think".
- Give equal learning opportunities to all students.

Difficulties with using e-learning:
♠ Technical weaknesses in dealing with computer,
♠ Not following the instructions for submitting their homework.
♠ For the teacher extra time is needed to follow student outcomes since it is blended course and consumes more time in grading and providing individual feedback.

I believe that electronic education can be effective as traditional learning. Each of them have advantages and disadvantages. Electronic learning in this days is very usefull but we have to know how to use it.
It's very good for students because they can work and learn when they have time, they can access course documents and materials whenever they need them. Also this kind of learning provide better communication between the students and the teacher.

In the next semestar I'm going to use moodle in my teaching. I'm working now on my course Public health that I'm going to teach from 15.02.2009. Depend on the topic and what I want to achieve I use different tools: forum, wiki, blog, workshop....

something about me

I would like to introduce myself.

My name is Marina Danilova. I live in Skopje, Macedonia but I'm working in Stip. Usually I travel at work every day from Skopje to Stip but I can stay if I want because my parents live in Stip.

I finished high school for nurses in Stip in 1998 and after that I moved in Skopje. I graduated Medical faculty at the University "St.Kiril and Methodius", Skopje in 2005. Now I'm studying master studies for public health.

I like to travel. I have been in many countries. My favourite cities that I have visited are: New York, Paris, Baltimore, St.Peterburg, Roma, Philadelphia...and I don't want to forget my favourite place Niagara falls.

I'm working as teaching assistant on the Faculty of medicine, at the University Goce Delcev in Stip. My subjects are: Epidemiology with public health, Social medicine, Medical statistics, Laboratory biosafety.

my blog - second day

Today is 28.01.2009, second day that I have my blog. I'm now at the university lab and I should work but I just want to write a few words. I'm attending a course Learning and teaching with technology and I think that it's great. I like to improve myself and I'm very satisfied because I learned a lot of new things.
During this 2 weeks I learned how to use blogs, forum, wiki with my students. I made my course Public health that I'm going to use it in my work with students in next semestar. I hope that it will be good.

I'm very happy because I have my first blog.
I'm doctor of medicine, I work at the University "Goce Delcev" in Stip and i teach preventive medicine at the Faculty of medicine. I'm studying master studies of public health.
